For the Interlaken weekend, Steve, Justine, and I(Kelsey), along with about 5 other people on the trip, hiked up the Swiss Alps. We started off in the morning by taking a train to the beginning of the trail.
We were planning on taking a "walking" trail up the mountain so we wouldn't get as tired and would get to see more. This did not happen. We took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up going on the "hiking" trail. Seeing as we weren't planning on taking this trail, we didn't bring any food with us and everyone had one bottle of water. We did underestimate the length of the trail. We wanted to make it to another mountain area called Muerren, but three hours on the hiking trail and we still were no where near it. Everyone was getting a little cranky because we were all extremely hungry and most everyone had run out of water. It was exhausting, but completely worth it. The views were incredible.
After hiking a bit longer, we saw a sign telling us that 10 minutes up the mountain on a different trail would get us to the Winteregg Restaurant. We rushed up that trail and we reach this restaurant in the middle of the mountains. The food was incredible and we got some more great photo opportunities.
After the amazing late lunch/early dinner, we decided to make our way back down the mountain after hiking up about 800 meters or so. We were all tired and one person had to get back to the hostel so she could go canyon jumping! This was our only full day in Interlaken, so we didn't do much more but explore the town and I must say that Switzerland has probably been one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited.
