Canyoning in Interlaken!

Hey everyone!

So while Kelsey, Steve and Justine were hiking, Taylor and I (Alyssa) went canyoning with about 8 other people from our group. Canyoning is a bit difficult to describe... imagine whitewater rafting without a raft through a narrow canyon. It was awesome and possibly the most extreme thing I've ever done. We bought the pictures from our trip because there was no way we could possibly describe the adventure.

Our trip began with the difficult process of getting on our thick wetsuits, jackets, and special shoes. We all looked a little silly.

We then began by repelling down off the side of the road, down a 100 ft. cliff into the canyon. So awesome!

We then spent the next couple of hours jumping off ledges, sliding down parts of the canyon and going on a zipline! We also spent considerable time being very very cold, as the water we were in was melted glacier water! But luckily our wetsuits were thick and the sun kept us warm when we got out of the water.

Here's some of the highlights:

The following two pictures are from my favorite part of the trip: we had to go on a zipline to get through part of this canyon, except rather than being hooked onto the zipline, we had to hold on to our own ropes and then let go half way through. At first, it was pretty nerve wracking, but it turned out to be very cool.

After getting back from canyoning, we were exhausted. All we wanted was a just a room full of hammocks. I literally did say that. And then, God must have been listening because when we got back to our hostel, we found a room full of hammocks. Needless to say, we were stunned, but not too stunned to take a quick nap :)

Thats all our posts for Switzerland, next we'll talk about our weekend in Berlin!
