We're back!

Bonjour!

Sorry for the lack of updates in the last week; we've been a little swamped with classes and such. We got back from Paris yesterday, so after everyone has their pictures we'll be able to blog about that, but first, here's what we did on our last day in Nice last weekend.

On Saturday the 22nd we decided to just explore the city of Nice a little more. We stopped at a mall to check out some of the French stores and then we strolled down to the center. It was a beautiful day, and Nice is very much a beach-y town.

We wandered over to a gorgeous park with fountains and flowers and took a lot of pictures.

Next we had a nice lunch at a little pizza restaurant and then walked along the beach. We dipped our toes in the water but it was sooo cold! But the beach was covered in smooth stones so Taylor skipped some.

We then walked over to a large hill, where we walked up to the top to the ruins of the old Nice chateau. It was a long walk up... so we took our time and lots of pictures :)

Later we got some gelato and went back to our hostel for the night, where we met 3 girls from England and Ireland, and had a great time chatting with them.

The next morning we had to get up very early to go catch the bus with the rest of our group. We stopped in St. Tropez, just an hour away from Nice, for a little while. Kelsey, Taylor and I (Alyssa) went up to the top to the old citadel. It was very cool, but the best thing was that there were peacocks there, and we saw one with its tail feathers fully displayed! It was very random to see it in France, but was a pleasant surprise.

After an hour or two in St. Tropez, we got back on the bus back to Dijon. So for the last week, up until we went to Paris on Thursday, we were in classes from 8:30-5 most days. We have 3 tests this week, but we'll try to update about this last weekend in Paris soon.

Au revoir!

Shiny Cars and Race tracks!

Hey Guys,

So Alyssa did the last post and we're switching it up every time we go to a new place! And since I love shiny cars and racing and such, I thought Monaco would be a perfect fit for me! After Eze that Friday morning we took another twenty minute bus ride up to Monaco. We were slightly confused on where to get dropped off, but thankfully the driver told us the last stop was the one we could get off.
Once getting off, we all noticed that Monaco was a lot more urban than we suspected it was going to be, a little more urban that Nice, and definitely more urban than Eze, but nonetheless we were ready to explore. We walked down the road, taking in the sights of bigger buildings, smells of gasoline, and sounds of cars zooming by. Our first task was to get down to the Casino to see it since Justine had already been to Monaco she suggested thats where we go. We walked down through what seemed like some sort of indoor/outdoor mall. Then we came upon a park that had gorgeous fountains, and an lower look of the city.
As we ventured down towards the Casino we saw a huge thing of bleachers, we then figured that they were for the races in Monaco that had just occurred the weekend before. We got a great view of the Casino, and better yet, all of the shiny, pretty, and expensive cars down below. My first objective, get down from the bleachers. So we walked down and the first beautiful car my eyes laid on was a bright blue, Lambroghini Mercialago, half my height which was amazing, but I was still googley eyed. As we went around to the Casino, my eyes feasted on more cars such as Roll Royces, Ferraris, Mercedes, Bentleys, and others. A few cars seemed out of place, but regardless those people had the privilege to park there car there.

So we went up to the Casino, and like everyone else, we were able to go in the lobby, use the restroom, and that was it. The lobby was gorgeous with huge stone columns, but the bathroom wasn't that impression which was ironic. Just as I was about to head into the Casino I turned around and let out a boyish squeaks, a bright orange Lambroghini had just pulled up, the driver handed the keys off to the valet who then proceeded to park the awesome car next to the OTHER Lambo (all black). Only the best out front I do say.
After being overloaded with all of the cars, (mostly me) we went down to get a view of the Marina, even more lavish items down just in the water. Tons of yachts with names such as Pegasus and other fun titles. There was a great view of the castle where Justine explained that was where the princess resided.
After a full day, of Eze and Monaco we were ready to head back, get a nice dinner from the hostel and head to bed! Great first day in Nice if I do say so myself. Un autre jour mes amis!

Our Weekend in Nice

Hello all!
We got back Sunday night from Nice, and we had a great time. We got to Nice late on Thursday night, so we didn't start our sightseeing until the next morning.

Here's a picture of our hostel: Villa St Exupery
It was our first time staying in one, and we actually really liked it!

We started off Friday by catching the tram to the bus, which took us to Eze. Eze was a cool little town that has small winding roads to the top, beautiful architecture, and flowers just growing right out of the walls.

We slowly made our way to the top, and paid to get into the gardens, where there are the ruins of a chateau. The view was spectacular!

On our way down we had lunch at a little restaurant, and also met a local artist. We chatted with her for about 30 minutes, and each bought a small print from her. We convinced her to take a picture with us:

She even showed us some of the secret pathways around Eze. It was great to get to meet someone local; it made our purchases that much more cool!

There will be more to come about our trip to Monaco next!
